Question and Answer

Hey guys! If you follow me on Instagram, you have seen me asking for some questions.  Some of y’all have sent me some questions, and here are your answers.

How long did it take for you to perfect your calligraphy talents?

I have been practicing calligraphy since after my trip to Uganda.  So almost two years. Practice makes progress for sure, this time last year, I was not as good as I am now. I wasn’t as comfortable on bigger pieces, and I didn’t want to touch wood.  I just wasn’t ready.  Now the majority of my pieces are wood, and a lot of them have gotten to be bigger.

What is your favorite brand of brushes and paints?

Whichever one is on sale honestly.  I shop at Micheals and they have amazing deals… sometimes I go a tad crazy on those sales.

What’s better writing or painting?

I prefer writing, I am just not as good at painting as I am writing. Painting takes a lot of focus, and focus is something that I am not very good at.  I get so distracted so easily. 🙂

What is your favorite thing to paint or draw?

Peonies! They are one of my favorite flowers, and when I learned how to draw them, I couldn’t stop.  The fun wavy petals, and the light blush pink. Oh goodness- don’t get me started.

Are you planning on going on another mission trip to Uganda?

I would love to go back to Uganda.  As of now, I am only dreaming about that day. I am waiting on God’s timing for me to go back.  If it were up to me, I’d be there right now.

What is your favorite part of calligraphy?

The creativity and liberty you can take with certain letters.  Letters like “a” and “y” can have fun flourishes, and it’s even more fun when they are right next to each other.  Like I probably sound like a huge nerd- but yeah… I kinda am.

I had so much fun writing that Q and A… a few special updates, and then we are through here.

  • For orders that need to be shipped and to you by Christmas, I need to have the money by Dec 1st.  If the money is not here by that date, I cannot guarantee that your pieces will make it to you on time, I will certainly try my hardest though.
  • Mallorie from Hearts For Hope Creative and I have started a group for makers/letterers/artists who want to grow in their faith through a creative outlet.  If you want more information about this, just message me and I will send you the details.
