we serve an awesome God, i am humbled to be his servant
what would it look like if everyone was in awe of the gospel?
what would it look like if the world was filled with people in awe of the teaching of the Word?
what would it look like if we were all in awe of the work that God’s doing?
what would it look like…
heres what it would look like- what it did look like.
42 And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. 43 And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. 44 And all who believed were together and had all things in common. 45 And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. 46 And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts,47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.
i think that my favorite part of this is that phrase ”awe came upon every soul”
if you’re anything like me, you read this and think “okay, that’s awesome, now how can this happen in 2017 america”
share- to use, participate in, enjoy, receive, etc.,
the apostles were committed to furthering the gospel. are we committed to sharing the gospel with those around us? are we ready to say yes to HIS calling?
19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20
shine-to give forth or glow with light; shed or cast light.
are we shining our light as we should be? do you remember singing “this little light of mine” as a kid? you may think of it as silly, but it is an applicable truth no matter how old you are.
16 No one after lighting a lamp covers it with a jar or puts it under a bed, but puts it on a stand, so that those who enter may see the light. 17For nothing is hidden that will not be made manifest, nor is anything secret that will not be known and come to light. 18 Take care then how you heart, for to the one who has, more will be given, and from the one who has not, even what he thinks that he has will be taken away.” Luke 8:16-18
shine your light + let others see Jesus through you
be a light
speak-to utter words or articulate sounds with the ordinary voice; talk:
46 And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, Acts 2:46
these people were having fellowship with other believers. this is essential. having fellowship with others can help you to study God’s word more in depth.
C A U T I O N – fellowship does not count as personal time with the lord – C A U T I O N
supplicate-ask or beg for something earnestly or humbly.
you must have personal time with the Lord. you need to be praying (supplicating) for the brokenness around you, for God to heal our world from our sin issues, for His light to shine in the darkness. you need to be reading scripture, AND applying it to your life. this is honestly the best way i could spend my time. the devil tries to lie to me and tell me that i should be doing something else, and that my time with the Lord can wait. let me just remind you something. the devil is a liar and wants you to think you can do everything by yourself. we cannot do anything by ourself. i know that personally, i need to get right with the lord before i can successfully help others.
L I E – It’s too late to start spending time with the Lord. Guys, please do not fall into this lie. Please make spending time with God your priority. (know that I am preaching to myself too)
I think that for us to experience revival like in Acts 2, we need to be daily doing these things.
share, shine, speak, supplicate.
